Forexcraze

Almost every broker who complains about lead quality is actually complaining about one of four separate things: bad contact data, bad consent, bad intent, or bad timing. They are different problems with different fixes, and lumping them together under “the leads were rubbish” is the reason most desks buy badly twice.

This is a working guide to forex leads — what the category actually contains, how the grades differ, what the numbers should look like before you scale, and how to run a purchase so that you learn something from it regardless of whether it works.

What counts as a forex lead

A forex lead is a contact record for a person who has shown some evidence of interest in trading currencies, CFDs or leveraged products. The phrase covers a very wide range of evidence, which is precisely where the confusion starts. In practice the market sells four distinct things under one name:

  • Registration leads — someone completed a form on a trading-related funnel: a signal service, a webinar, an education offer, a market-news subscription. Intent is real but often shallow.
  • Demo account leads — someone opened a demo with a broker. Stronger evidence, because they got as far as a platform, but demo openers include a large population of people who will never fund.
  • Depositor leads — someone has funded a live account somewhere. This is the highest-value segment and the smallest, and it is the one most likely to be misrepresented by low-end vendors.
  • Interest or intent data — behavioural records assembled from traffic, app usage or affiliate funnels, scored rather than self-declared.

The single most useful question to ask a vendor is not “how good are your leads” but “what action did this person take, on what page, on what date“. A supplier who can answer that per record is selling a database. A supplier who answers with adjectives is selling a spreadsheet.

The four grades, and what each is actually for

Grade What it is Typical connect rate Best used for
Exclusive / real-time Sold once, delivered within minutes of capture 85–95% Funded sales floors with instant dial capability
Shared Sold to a small number of buyers, usually 3–5 70–85% Volume desks with a strong differentiated pitch
Aged Captured 30–365 days ago, re-verified before sale 55–80% Nurture sequences, reactivation, low-cost volume tests
Scraped / compiled Assembled from public sources with no capture event 10–35% Nothing you should be doing

Those connect-rate bands are the honest ones. If a vendor quotes 95% on aged data, they are quoting the number their validation tool produced at the moment of export, not the number your dialler will see next Tuesday. Phone data decays continuously — mobile churn in emerging markets runs high enough that a list validated ninety days ago and left untouched will have lost a meaningful slice of its reachability by the time it reaches you.

This is why re-verification on a rolling cycle matters more than the verification claim itself. One-time validation is a photograph. What you want is a vendor running the check continuously and removing failures from the pool entirely, rather than quietly shifting them into a cheaper list.

The four failure modes, separated

1. Bad contact data

The number is dead, recycled, or was never a mobile. Symptom: low connect rate, high “number not in service”. This is the vendor’s fault and is the easiest to measure — it shows up in your dialler report inside a day.

2. Bad consent

The person is reachable but never agreed to be contacted about trading products. Symptom: complaints, aggressive rejections, and in Europe, regulatory exposure that dwarfs the cost of the data. Ask for the consent text, the capture timestamp and the source URL, per record. A supplier who cannot produce those for European data should not be shipping European data.

3. Bad intent

The person is real, reachable and consented, but their interest was in something adjacent — crypto news, a giveaway, a generic “make money online” funnel. Symptom: good connect rates, polite conversations, near-zero deposits. This is the most expensive failure because it looks fine for the first two weeks.

4. Bad timing

Everything about the record is right, but you called eleven days after capture. Intent decays steeply — the decay curve on investor intent is far steeper than most sales managers assume, and a fresh list worked slowly performs worse than an aged list worked fast.

What forex leads cost

Pricing varies by region, grade and volume, but the shape of the market is consistent. Broad current bands for verified phone-and-email records:

Region Typical range per record Why
Tier-1 Europe Highest band Highest deposit values, full GDPR documentation, strictest compliance burden
GCC & MENA Upper band Strongest deposit averages and exceptional WhatsApp response rates
LATAM Mid band Lower deposits, but volume economics and connect rates that outperform Europe
APAC & SEA Mid to lower band Largest verified MetaTrader segment, young and platform-literate

The instinct to optimise on price per record is the single most reliable way to lose money in this category. Cost per funded trader is the number that decides whether your desk is profitable, and connect rate has more leverage over it than any other input — because it sits at the top of the funnel and every downstream rate multiplies against it. A list at four times the price that connects twice as often and converts three times as well is not expensive. It is the cheap option.

How to run a first purchase properly

Treat the first order as an experiment with a pre-registered hypothesis, not as a punt.

  1. Buy one region, one grade, 1,000 records. Mixing regions in a test makes the result uninterpretable — Brazilian and German data behave nothing alike, and blending them tells you only about the blend.
  2. Agree the replacement terms in writing first. A credible supplier offers a defined replacement window for records that fail on contactability. Fourteen days is a reasonable standard. No window at all is a signal.
  3. Dial within the agreed freshness window, not when the rota allows. If you cannot work 1,000 records inside a week, buy 500.
  4. Instrument four metrics and nothing else: connect rate, conversation rate, deposit rate, and thirty-day retention. The last one is what removes bonus-hunters from your numerator.
  5. Hold the pitch constant. If you change the script and the data source at the same time, you have learned nothing about either.

Run the same protocol against your incumbent source in the same fortnight. A head-to-head on identical scripts and identical dialler settings is worth more than any vendor’s case study.

Compliance, briefly but seriously

Buying data does not transfer liability for contacting people. In the EU and UK the lawful basis has to exist at the point of capture and has to be evidenced — which means consent text, timestamp and source held per record and produced on request. In the GCC the practical constraints are lighter but platform rules still apply: WhatsApp Business policy governs how you may open a conversation, and account bans for cold bulk messaging are common and permanent.

The commercially relevant point is that compliant data and high-converting data are largely the same data. Records with a real capture event and documented consent connect better and convert better, for the obvious reason that the person genuinely did something.

Frequently asked

Are exclusive leads worth the premium over shared?

If your floor can dial within minutes, yes, comfortably. If leads sit in a queue for two days, you are paying an exclusivity premium to arrive fourth anyway — buy shared or aged and fix the queue first.

How many records do I need for a valid test?

One thousand, from one region, worked inside one week. Below roughly 500 the deposit-rate confidence interval is too wide to act on.

What connect rate should I actually expect?

On fresh, properly verified phone data, above ninety percent is achievable and is the benchmark our own buyers measure. On aged data, sixty to eighty percent depending on region and age band.

Do free or cheap lead lists ever work?

They work as a demonstration of why they do not work. The arithmetic on cheap lists is unforgiving once you include your sales floor’s hourly cost.

Where to start

If you are evaluating suppliers, ask three questions and judge on the answers rather than the brochure: what capture event produced this record, what is the connect rate your last three clients measured, and what happens if the data underperforms. Anyone who answers all three specifically is worth a 1,000-record test.
